Should You Design In Webflow?

Here is everything you need to know before considering switching to Webflow for your web design projects. Most web designers agreed that …

Should You Design In Webflow?

DESIGN WITH WEBFLOW: IS THAT ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE?

Webflow is a brilliant choice in most cases. If you’ve experienced the whole process of Webflow design, you’d agree that the site is a top-tier choice. It makes the job of developing a site 50% simpler while focusing on the designer experience. With Webflow, designs and coding visually matter the most, and that’s what you’d benefit from the platform.

However, since you’re still wondering about making the move to it completely, you’d better have some solid reason to do so. And here shall be your list!

To be exact, what is Webflow?

It’s absolutely wrong to classify Webflow as a no-code website builder like others. To be true, Webflow code is made visually, during your design process. Don’t expect it to be all drag and drop, and it’s not for creating a website within a day.

In fact, Webflow is absolutely customizable, without any limitation for a web designer. Webflow design templates are cool to work for medium size to large projects, and we’d consider them more professional tools.

Webflow also offers great support to get into the system by providing Webflow University classes and responsive services to help. From our experience so far, both are absolutely stunning and pleasing to work with.

The platform also provides native CMS so managing content is simple and effective. Both content creators and clients can control and publish content much simpler and even editing happens right on-page.

Last but not least, is its huge collection of templates. Sure you can start from scratch, but we know sometimes having a template is much handier!

What makes Webflow so good for designers?

1. Still coding, but visually only!

Yes, this means no boring hours sitting in front of your screenwriting endless lines of codes. We know that would be a nightmare for web developers. In Webflow, the platform will write the code for you while you are crafting things on canvas. So you’ll see the result instantly, while Webflow does most of the hard work for you. This way, you can work more on responsive design much simpler than before.

The best thing about Webflow code is that you can export them and use them on another hosting. So developers can work with it later even if you’re integrating to another hosting.

2. Budget-friendly

Technically it’s not cheap at all. But Webflow is probably the only platform that performs as well as a developer with a much better price. If you’ve been working in the industry long enough, you’ll know the payroll for an in-house front-end developer is not cheap.

So despite Webflow being a bit pricier than other website builders, it’s all worthy for the professional and great results.

3. Save you a lot of time

Coding an entire website will drown you in the loop of time. From planning, design, coding, then test and feedback, that’ll take forever. So if you can cut off time spent in any step, it’d be such a blessing. That’s when Webflow becomes very useful. It’ll cut down the coding process, and make the job done while you’re designing.

4. Flexibility

There is nearly no limit when it comes to Webflow design. The Webflow designing tool allows us to execute almost anything our design team comes up with. So whatever the project requires, you can count on the flexibility of this platform.

If you’ve experienced other web builders, you’ll see that it’s limited by so many potentials of a website. The most obvious shall be the interaction and movement of objects. While the Webflow designing tool allows you to do it instantly. So no more frustration with web design and code, it’s all here for you.

5. Import animation from After Effects

Did you know that with a plugin, you can import complex animation from After Effects to your Webflow project? Motion is a great trend in website design, and it’s getting bigger than ever. But normally, most website builders can handle such large files with so many things going on. With Webflow, you can simply render and import your animation within 30 minutes.

6. Mobile-friendly

As you’ve already known, most traffic on our site now is from mobile devices. So focusing on user experience there is absolutely crucial. That’s why it should be one of the main parts of any website project. However, the desktop version is not always run great on mobile, since it could be overloaded with moving elements. Webflow allows you to hide some manually on the mobile version to make it load faster and looks better. Meanwhile, not many other platforms could allow you to do so. They’d only let you adapt the same design without removing any elements.

7. 10 times easier to make a responsive website

The last time we make a website from start to finish, we actually have to adapt manually for all devices' designs. Desktop version, tablet version, smartphone design, we all have to do it over and over again. But just imagine what would happen if you just need to do it once, then click a button and it’s already made into other versions? No more stuck with adapting from version to version. You can even adjust each version to create a better experience without needing to change the entire design.

8. Close the gap between design-content

People mostly talk about the connection between design and development. However, the gap between design and content is much harder to bridge. And there are tons of reasons for this, here are why:

  • Content creators have to fit words into layouts of designers. This means they don’t have the decision on how their words would look on a website. While designers don’t read the content, so while they arrange it, there might be mistakes.
  • Content has very little control over designs. Even if we see a wordy mistake, creators have no tools to do it and have to contact developers/ designers.

This is when CMS of Webflow closes the gap, and empowers writers and marketers to instantly edit the content on the website. You can create, edit it all right on-page, without any complex coding or problems.

To round it up

Webflow is far greater than all the low-quality website builders on the market. This is a powerful tool that allows professional web designers to make anything happen. Webflow designers, CMS, and even Ecommerce tools perform so well, and let’s not forget the fact that this is a low-code platform. It still has some drawbacks, but considering all of its power, Webflow deserves all the hype and attention.
